About 10 years ago I sat on the sideline waiting for practice to start. The session before was traditional Japanese jujutsu witch is what was before judo and BJJ.
During these few minutes before class started I was paying attention to this old black belt, probably around 70 years old, working on some kata movements with katana sword.
I'd seen him before in those classes helping out with teaching and working on his game.
While going through the moves I saw that he kept looking my way once in awhile, smiled and blinked his eye my way.
After few more minutes he put away his katana sword and walked over to me and said "I just killed 6 people"
At first I didn't think too much about it because I thought it was funny as hell "just killed 6 people"
After pondering for a while I came to realize that he already found what I want to find when I get to that age. A lifestyle where I can hang with my friends and have fun.
I truly believe that I have found out how I want to spend my senior years and that is on the mats sharing moves with my friends. I kinda figured that out after about 2 years training BJJ.
I suggest that you try to find what it is you see yourself doing when you are 70 years ol and find it sooner than later. Later might be too late.
It can be running, golfing, swimming, hunting, hiking or anything else that comes to mind give it a try and stick with it for a while because the first 3 months are always the difficult ones.
